Papa's birhday party, preschool visits and family time

This week we have had something almost every evening of the week, but hey that helps to get to the weekend FASTER! Wednesday we went to Wichita to look for an new outfit for Gentry's 1st day of school and some new shoes. She found a cute Dora ballerina-esque dress and some black Mary Janes from Target. She wants some boots since she reached another 10 stickers but we had no luck finding them. Maybe closer to fall.. That evening Whit and I made a mexican feast for Papa's 59th birthday. We made Chicken, Steak and Shrimp fajitas, with rice, beans, guacamole, salsa and cheese dip. We also made a Chocolate Cookies-n-creme cake with homeade buttercreme. It was all pretty delicious. We got Papa a gift card to Famous Footwear for some new shoes.
Thursday night we had a meeting at Gentry's preschool. When we pulled up she hopped out and said "Hey Mommy, Daddy! You are not staying. You drop me off!" Well at least we dont have to worry about any clingy issues the 1st day:/ She played with her new friends while Luke and I got the run-down of what will take place through the year. Also with a very plesant surprise, I got asked to be on the board for her class! I am super excited to attend class trips and help plan parties. Also my friend Kylie, whose daughter is Gentry's friend Ava, is also on the board so I am sure it will be fun. When we walked into the class to pick her up, she ran straight over, shoes off of course, and smiled and yelled "Mommy!" I ♥ that little girl:)
Friday we didnt do much, just our normal routine. That evening we went down to Verizon so I could get a new phone, since my speaker went out in the phone. G loved playing and talking to all her "friends" on the phones at the store. Also they had wooden floor and for some reason, she loved stomping on the floor and hearing her shoes make a "big" noise. I happily walked out with an iPhone 4 and would be considered a "satisfied customer"!
Saurday morning we, along with our neighbors, walked to the Kettle Creek coffeeshop for some morning breakfast. We got breakfast casserole muffins, breakfast burritos, cinnamon roll, apple juice, chai tea and a latte! We all shared each others and it was so fun:) That day we hung out around the house until the early evening. Maci came over to watch G and Ace while Luke and I went to Wichita to see Emerald Lights and MaxxFactor. It is a womens choir and then a quartet, that may I add, was on NBC's The SingOff! Before the concert we ate at Wasabi, a sushi restaurant. It was really good. I am so glad Luke is branching out and enjoying the finer things in life, like sushi and coffee:) The concert was a skit/performance and it was really enjoyable. I would absolutly go again, so would Luke! Plus it was great to hang out with Tiffany and Chad.
Riding the Pooh at Walmart!
This morning we went to Walmart and it was nothing short of a nightmare! Ace is getting almost too naughty to take in public. I say that lightly, but he has become a screaming machine! It is so hard to keep him calm while I am searching for the best deal at the store. Thankfully Luke took him while I took G and got the goods. But when I hear him screaming, 5 aisles down, I cringe! I cant wait until we get out of the screaming phase! Tonight we are having Dave and the Courtney's over for dinner. Luke is making a "Baconator". It is bacon that is weaved like a basket filled with steak, cheese and jalapenos. Sounds a little too meaty for me, but I will try it! We will also have salads and dessert. I tried to re-create the peanut butter struesal that we had in elementary school. That was hands down my favorite dessert for school lunch!
.................I have been bad at taking pictures lately so I will hop back on the camera bandwagon this week!..................................

Zoo, Maci, Birthday Party's and more fun

This past weekend has been so busy, hence my last post! On Friday was Chloe's 2nd birthday and she wanted to go to the Zoo. We went to Rolling Hills, just west of Salina. It was very nice because it was so quiet! I am sure mainly because school has started and all but there were only like 5 other people there! It was VERY hot out! Thankfully they had the water misters out. Ace and Auntie Itty went through every single one of them! That was the only time he would crack a smile, otherwise it was a grumpy look painted on his sweet little face. They also had a museum attached that has different animal scenes and artificial people from each region, like Africa or Asia. G's favorite area was the Reptiles to see the snakes! She is obsessed with them, I think only because she knows Luke and I dislike them so much! Little adgitator! That evening Luke and I went to Wichita for Tiffany's salon opening and dinner. She opened the salon in Wichita and I am so proud of her! It is very urban and comfy at the same time! She had a great turn-out too! We ate dinner at Red Rock. It was delish! We shared a Shrimp appetizer, he got the steak with potatoes and mushrooms in a red wine sauce, (Amazing) and I had the Asian salad made with rotisserie chicken with a peanut dressing, also amazing! We will surely go back. We hit up Starbucks on our way home. Luke got the Captain Crunch frap, something we read about earlier this week on the web and I got my usual, Decaf Skinny Hazelnut. Perfect ending to a perfect day♥
Saturday morning it was a cool morning so we took advantage of it. We walked down to the Kettle Creek Coffeehouse. They have a small breakfast menu so we had a mini breakfast and coffee there. We got Breakfast Casserole muffins, cinnamon rolls, a pomegrante-blueberry smoothie and a Skinny hazelnut latte. Can you guess who was whose? :) Luke said he thinks we should make this a Saturday morning ritual, I agree. We spent the day being LAZY, which was nice. We got an unexpected call that Nana had to be taken to the ER because of her illness. After she got some good meds pumped in via IV, G and I went over to visit and see if there was anything she needed. Her one request, Rest! Poor Nana:( Thankfully she is feeling alot better now. G and I made homeade Cinnamon Raisin Bread that I saw on Giada. It turned out pretty good. The center caved in a bit but it was very chewy and had the perfect amount of cinnamon! Will for sure make it again! That evening we went to Chloe's birthday party. They had a tractor pinata, farm birthday cake (That Whit did an awesome job on!) and of course lots of gifts:) Chloe is such a crazy lil farm gal!
Sunday we went to Medora for Destiny and HevynLei's dedication. After we left there we went to Hutch. Nana and Papa also had to go to Home Depot to buy a front door so G, Ace K and I tagged along while Luke visited his friend . After that we went to lunch at Freddy's and headed home for naps. That afternoon, Luke and Jeff put in our new front door. It makes the front of the house look very updated. I ♥ it. Simple things make this gal pretty happy! We had Jeff and his family, as well as Dave over for a spaghetti dinner. It was delish, especially with the fresh basil! After dinner we had brownie sundaes, def. made out like happy fat cats:)
Monday we had our friends Meggan, Grayson and Kenna over for a playdate. We had a normal afternoon, naps then to Nanas, and then I had a meeting for my sorority. Luke took the beans on a walk and to the local church playground! G couldnt stop talking about it when I got home! Simple things also make that little lady happy:)

Back to the daily grind and lovin it!

This week we have finally started getting back to our daily schedule and man does it feel good! G and Ace's friends at the Y have been so excited to see them again. Maci has been still coming over daily to hang out with us, and G really loves that! If she isnt there when she wakes up, G fears something is up! On wednesday I had an appointment in Wichita so we all went there and brought our neighbor Kori with us. Her dad works in Wichita so we decided to all meet for dinner. (Vicki drove up after work) We stopped by Bath and Body Works to get some handsoaps while we waited on Vicki to get there. They just put out the Fall scents and I love them! G chose Caramel Apple, Mint Chocolate and Creamy Pumpkin for her bathroom and I got Caramel Pumpkin Latte and Oatmeal Raisin Cookie fo rmine! Those smells are pure love to me:) After that we went to PF Changs. It was great food, but Ace was having a major breakdown! It was very stressful since NOTHING would calm this child down. He has been doing this scream lately where he is just inconsulable and it is very frustrating. Thankfully the 3 woman that were in the booth behind us were all grandmothers and their gbabies lived far away so they were happy to see babies. When Ace learned he could entertain them, he turned to them nearly the whole meal! Afterwards we made a necessary trip to Starbucks, for G, not me:)! She got her Caramel Chocolino and I decided since we were there I might as well get a skinny decaf hazelnut latte. It was delish!
This morning after we got home from the Y, we had Kylie, Paker and Ava over to play. G and Ava are going to be in preschool together. They didnt exactly play together but at least they didnt fight! I am sure when they are in the "preschool" setting they will act differently. Today is Grandpa Arvin's birthday so we went to the nursing home for cake and ice cream. We got Destiny after school so she could go with us. Unfortunantly right when we were getting ready to leave, Mom came out looking very sickly and said she had been suddenly sick and couldnt go:( We enjoyed our time with Grandpa and then listened to a song that he had asked the choir to sing to us. He is so sweet. I just love that little man♥
Poor Ace K's battle wound.
(Flipped off the princess chair and hit his head on the fireplace:(

Geriatric Unit???

These past few days we have had Auntie Maci over to help us out. She has been a life saver for me and the beans are just getting that much more attatched to her! We havent been out doing much, but that doesnt mean there wasnt any excitment:/ Gentry was her normal crazy, sassy self. Her Papa Richard gave her the nickname "Pepper" when she was only a few months old and man did he nail it on the head! She is a spicy little thing! Ace has been trying so hard to walk but realizes that crawling is just easier. He has walked 6 steps so far! Matt, B and Dash have gone back to Indiana. They left on Saturday morning. Hopefully Matt will get a job that is closer to home soon! Ace would love to have his buddy Dash live closer:) In other not so exciting news, Luke was playing in the church softball tournament on Saturday and dove to catch a ball and rolled over on his wrist....causing a hair fracture on his wrist and a chip fracture on his pinkie:/  The only good thing is, if there is one, is that it was his right hand and he is left handed! We shall see how cutting hair goes tomorrow! Luke and I joke that we have become a geriatric unit..funny..maybe not so much now, but in a few months it will be. We went to Walmart and when we got there we were dumb struck when it came to figuring out how we would get the Culligan water tank filled and put back in the cart, something that normally I do and think nothing of it! I guess you have to laugh about some things so you dont cry:)

Ace's 1st birthday and other sheenanigans

On Sunday we had the Unruh Family Reunion at Sugar Creek school, I love that name! It of course was a lot of good eatin, rounded out with some good 'ol b-ball! We FINALLY got a family picture with everyone in it! Now we will have to do it again at Christmas with baby Gavyn, assuming all make it back. Unfortunantly Grandpa Arvin wasnt able to make it, due to being in the hospital with some health issues. This past week he moved into the Moundridge Nursing home. I know he would have loved to be there and talking with everyone:(  We hung out at Nana and Papas that afternoon with everyone before Derick and Cassie headed back to Texas.
On Monday morning B and Dash came over to join us on a walk. It was barely sprinkling when we left and we came back drenched in rain and had one angry soon-to-be 1 yr old! B carried Dash in the Sleepywrap and he kept leaning his head back and opening his mouth to catch the raindrops. He is beyond adorable;)  When we got home, we chatted over coffee and laid the boys down for naps. These are the simple things that I miss not getting to do with B:( Move closer!  After naps we went to Luke's shop to get Ace's 3rd hair trim for his 1st birthday! I think it is crazy that Gentry has had 0 hairtrims and she is 3 and Ace has had 3 before the age of 1!?!? After that we went to Nanas to let the kiddos all play together!
Tuesday was Ace's 1st birthday! We met Mari and Q at the park and went on a walk. It was totally different weather than yesterday, humid and sunny! They are moving to  Panama City within the next month so we had to squeeze some walk time in! The only advantage of them moving, is we plan to go on a vacation there in February since they will have a nice condo we can all stay in! Cant wait! After naps time, I dropped G and Destiny off at Nanas while I took Ace to his 1 yr checkup. He weighed in 20lbs 10.5oz and was 29 inches tall! He is prefectly healthy, which makes for one satisfied momma:) After we left there, we met Nana, Maci, B, Matt, Dash, Whit, Lolo, Destiny and G at the Deli for Ace's birthday lunch. G, Destiny and Ace all ate grilled cheeses, carrot and dip(I ate Ace's) and a sugar cookie shaped like a Cow. Ace sure did love his lunch:) We came home for naps and then headed back to Nana's (Do you see a nap---Nana's pattern almost daily??) to play for a while before we went out for dinner. Ace chosePerkins (Well Luke Ace chose that). It was a good choice, because Ace really enjoyed his pancakes, fruit and eggs for his birthday dinner. I have got to say, on the beans birthdays, they sure do eat well:)
Today Maci came over to hang out with the beans while Luke and I went to Wichita. It sounded like G was a very good girl., which hasnt been a common thing these past few days! My friend Liz File brought us by homeade Spaghetti, Ceasar Salad, Garlic bread and a dessert for dinner. What a sweet girl she is and she is expecting twin girls in October! Cant wait to meet those little babies:)

..........Some funny things G has been saying are: She used to call people stinky alot and I told her that isnt nice, so she does it whenever you is already in trouble, she will blurt it out really quick. Ex: Me"G go to time out for....", G"You are a stinkyface mommy!" So one day we were driving by a dead skunk and she goes "Whats that stink mom?" So I explained how skunks spray for protection and so now instead of saying "You stink..." she just says "You skunk!" because she thinks oh it is an animal so I wont get in trouble...too smart for her own good!
Also she has a friend named Brodie from the Y and we were on FB and she said "Hey mom can I look at pictures of Grotie?"  Ha remember when we used to say "Oh that is grotie!"
Ace's birthday gift from Momma, Dadda and G. I ♥ G's smile here:)

♥ this! We took one just like this when Dash was
only 2 wks old, so comparision will be fun!

This weekend is Cassie's baby shower so all the family is coming into town today! We are so excited to see everyone. Derick and Cassie got in around 12:30 and Matt, B and Dash got in around 3. We decorated the church for the shower after they got here. The shower was a great success and lots of fun! Today we celebrated Ace's 1st birthday! (a few days early) He wore a really cute shirt that we had custom made for his party and big day. I made him (with the help of Maci) his Cookie Monster cake and everyone else had homeade Monster cookies and ice cream. He got cars, a pretend cell phone, remote and camera, clothes, shoes, $, DQ gift card, books, Turtle light, John Deere toolkit and a few other toys. We had quite a crowd: Papa, Nana, Derick, Cassie, Matt, B, Dash, Austin, Maci, Whit, Josh, Lo, Mark, Ana, Destiny, Steve K, Dave, Nana B, Liz and Amelia.  He LOVED his cake. At first he just kinda poked at it and stared and then when we showed him what to do, he REALLY got into it! Mr Dash joined in the fun, super cute! G of course had a few handfuls of cake as well! Ace got a much needed bath when his baby belly was full. That evening we went to Daimaru's for dinner. On the way home, the baby monster passed out due to his sugar coma:)

Eating is his sleep, slumber parties. Hillsboro and Day with Maci:)

These past fews day we have had some unexpected things come up. Usually I am not a "go with the flow" kind of person, but these past few days I have been and it has been, well rather plesant! On Tuesday morning we had just left the Y and were heading to do our weekly Walmart trip, when we got a call to see if we could get Destiny early, like within 10 minutes! So we happily accepted:) We spent the morning getting groceries, as well as some things for the upcoming baby shower for Cassie and Gavyn as well as Ace's 1st birthday party! Ace also missed his nap so we kept him happy by giving him non-stop Teddy Grahams. Destiny informed me I was "breaking the rules" because I opened them before paying for them. I smiled and said "Sometimes I break the rules...but I am going to pay for them". When we got home it was close to lunch time and Ace decided he would combine that with nap time. He opened his mouth long enough for me to put the food in and then he went back to sleeping:)
Another unexpected event was heading to Hillsboro with Maci and Destiny. They were going to see Whit and Chloe and then Destiny was planning to stay for a few nights. We decided last minute to tag along and hang out at her house for the day. I am glad we did, because it was fun. We ate at Wendys and Gentry chose to get Nuggets since Destiny got them, but half way thru she said "Mommy where is my cheese hamburg??"...she thought she got both! Ha! Silly girl. We went to Plantations, a cute boutique. Then headed back to Whit's house to watch D, G and Lo play together while Ace slept. When we got back to town I ran to Kari Lynn's before they closed to pick up some jeans I had altered. I left pretty quick and when I got back, Luke said, "Hey did you grab the money bag off the car before you left?"...NO! I didnt even see it. So I got back in the car and drove the same path I had gone down and prayed, prayed and prayed some more! No luck:( Luke and his friend went back and still nothing. I asked him if he had checks in there that would have been written to his shop or anything that would identify whose bag it was and he had nothing in there, but around $400!!!
This morning I woke up and the first thought in my head was, Remember yesterday when you came back from driving to Kari Lynn's and you saw your neighbor stop his truck and pick something up and look around.. So I hopped out of bed and ran out to the family room to tell Luke. He went next door immediatly and Thank God, they had it!!! God is Good!!
Today we did our usual morning routine, but went to Nanas to help bake cupcakes for the shower. Around 11:30 we had to go to the Dr for an X-Ray for G's feet to ensure her bones were growing right, since she walks slightly piegon-toed. Thankfully all is well, but now to figure out what else to do to correct the in-toe style of walking she does:/ We spent the rest of the day at Nanas decorating the cupcakes, eating dinner and doing hair colour on Maci and me.
Tomorrow B, Noah, Matt, Cassie and Derick are coming! We are so excited to have everyon together!

Potlucks and 1st time Dentist Visit

On Sunday we went to church and since VBS was the past week, they ended with a big potluck lunch. Luke and Austin BBQ the dogs and I helped my mom in the kitchen. We set things out on the table while Gentry went and tasted a few of the cookies and chips to ensure they were up to par for the church members! I think they passed:) It was a big turn out and almost all the dishes were empty, so I would say it was a success! We came home all 4 us took nice long naps, we were tired! After we got up, I took Gentry to Walmart to exchange her DVD that she got a double of from her birthday party. She chose a Nick Jr Vacation DVD that had 6 episodes all about the beach. She dreams of going there and I look forward to the day we can build castles on the beach together. We went over to Nana's to colour her hair and Gentry ended up watching Olivia with Papa in the family room. It was kinda cute to see them sitting there together:)

This morning we went earlier than normal to the Y since we had to get done early to get to Gentry's 1st dentist appointment. When we were walking out of the Y she goes "Mommy this boy was chasing me today!" and she had this big grin on her face, Oh please Lord not yet! We got home and met Maci so she could stay with Ace while he napped. Gentry was very excited for the dentist. We got a Going to the Dentist book to prep her for what to expect. She played in the waiting room while I caught up on one of my favorite magazines, Real Simple! We went back and had Brenda as the dental hygenist. She was great with Gentry. She showed her all the utensils and how they would be used. At first she seemed a little weary of it all but after she put them in her mouth, she exclaimed "That doesnt even hurt Mom!" :) Love her so much! They used a cookie dough flavoured toothpaste to polish her little monster chompers. Honestly I think that sounds gross, but to a child, I am sure it was yummy. Then she showed her the water and how they would suck it out of her mouth. She thought that was pretty neat. She even held the hose and did it herself and always took the hose out to show me how proud she was by giving me a big smile. It is moments like these that make all the sassiness she posesses and times when I get frustrated with her, just go straight out the window! Thank God! They said she has beautiful teeth and she got a goody bag! It had an Ariel toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, gum, stickers and a pencil. They asked if Ace would like a toothbrush and Gentry said "Yes he likes Pooh" so they gave her one to take home to him. She told Dr. Yowell that when "Ace is big, she will bring him in and he can sit on her lap". 1st dentist visit=SUCCESS! On our way home she asked if we could do a picnic but it is scorching out so I told her that we would do an inside picnic. We lunched on the family room floor, with a blanket, good food and Rio playing on the TV! She thought it was so cool! After naps we went to Nana's to play for a while and then headed home to make dinner.

Her goody bag contents!
